What is an Electronic Fiscal Device (EFD)?

Electronic Fiscal Device (EFD) is a new receipt or invoicing issuing system governed by Ministry of Customs and Revenue.

It is comprised of 3 components: 

The first is an accredited POS which can be any electronic device or computerised software (POS) or ERP used for issuing invoices. 

The second component is Sales Data Controller which is a receipt processing system designed to apply a special electronic signature to each invoice, making it verifiable by MCR. 

Third component is a Secure Element (provided by MCR) which digitally signs invoices. 

Taxpayer may choose between two different EFD configurations with an External or Virtual Sales Data Controller.
